When Kim Kardashian posted her now-famous blood-spotted selfie, the internet lost it over the vampire facial. And now, the same technique is being used to plump up your cleavage.
Much like the facial, the non-surgical, walk-in walk-out treatment involves two 60 minute procedures where blood is drawn from the arm, spun through a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma and then reinserted back into the breast.
According to Medical Director of Cosmetic MD, Dr. Herbert Hooi, the procedure is ideal for women looking to enhance the look of their cleavage without surgery.
“For some women who have breastfed or simply with general aging, the cleavage loses firmness. The shape of the breast tends to fall as the breast tissue descends and breast and nipple sensitivity also decreases, which is all part of the aging process. This option provides women with shapelier breasts, decreases skin sag, reduces wrinkles and increases sensation in the breasts.”
And at around $1,900, it’s becoming an increasingly popular treatment, with Hooi seeing double the number of inquiries compared to this time last year among women and men wanting to achieve a more youthful look and greater firmness in their breasts with minimal downtime.
“Some patients may experience some redness, swelling and possible bruising after the treatment, however, this usually settles within 2-3 days. Generally speaking, most patients are able to get back to their usual everyday routine and activities,” he explains.
But if you’re looking to go a size up, this treatment probably isn’t for you. It offers up a more natural looking cleavage without a dramatic size change.
And of course, make sure you find a surgeon who is certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (this is easily done by checking their credentials via the ASPS website.) Also, choose someone whose specialty is breast surgery and then get clued up on exactly what you’re after before going in for the initial consultation.
